Celebrating Ethiopian New Year (Enkutatash) with HCSEM Community

The Ethiopian New Year, known as Enkutatash (αα αα₯ α α α½), falls on September 11th and
marks the end of the rainy season. For the HCSEM community here in Minnesota,
it is one of the most beloved celebrations of the year β a time to gather,
share food, honor traditions, and welcome the new year together.
This year's celebration was truly unforgettable. Over 200 community members gathered,
dressed in beautiful traditional Ethiopian clothing, filling the hall with color, laughter, and
the incredible aromas of injera, doro wat, and freshly brewed coffee.
Children performed traditional dances, elders shared stories, and the whole community joined in song.
The bonds formed in moments like these are what make HCSEM so special β a home away from home.
We are grateful to every volunteer, donor, and community member who made this event possible.
Together, we carry our culture forward, one celebration at a time.
Happy New Year! α₯αα³α α α²α΅ ααα΅ α α°α α α α°α¨α³α½α!
